Drivers Ed: True Friendship Begins!

Oh Drivers Ed! I love looking back on this time and talking to Hubby about it! We love to compare stories as to what we were both thinking at that time. It's interesting because like a lot of girls, I get really really nervous when I'm around a guy I have a crush on.... I didn't realize at that time that I liked Hubby as more than a friend (thank God) but Hubby liked me! My mom would usually drive us there and pick us up when it was over. Me and Hubby picked each other as "driving buddies" so we literally spent a lot of our summer together that year (2006)
We talk about it now and hubby always talks about a time that he said he always kicks himself in the head for. A couple of the kids in class were joking around about me and Hubby, trying to decide if we were brother/sister or bf/gf. One time asked Hubby (I was sitting right in front of him so I could hear) and he immediately said "NO" because he didn't want me to know he liked me. He says he felt so stupid because in a way he wished he wouldn't have answered to see what I would have done. lol. He also says every time we would walk to class he wanted to ask me out but was always to scared...finally when he mustered up enough courage to ask... 2 girls from class ran up and snatched me away to do their normal "girl gossip of the day talk" and he never got courage enough for the remainder of Drivers Ed.
We have so many memories that i wouldn't trade for the world! That summer started a life long friendship! I was so comfortable around Hubby and that's rare enough, but it's outstanding that I was comfortable DRIVING in front of him! lol. We both got A's, I believe. The funniest moment was when our teacher took us to a Cemetery to practice our backing up skills! hubby went first and moved perfectly through the Cemetery without hitting a single headstone! however, I was NOT good at backing up! I got in and started out slowly and yet somehow managed to get so close to a barbed wire fence I almost scraped the paint off the mini van! Then when I tried reversing it I almost ran over a headstone.*
It was nerve racking because I was certain Teacher was going to fail me, but hubby made it bearable! He got quite the laugh out of it though, and still gets a kick out of it. But at least I could parallel park correct the FIRST time! We aren't sure why I can't back up through a Cemetery but I can parallel park perfect. Hubby was the opposite! He couldn't parallel park right the first time! So we both have funny things to remind us of our youth:)
We were still driving to CB every Wednesday night. When I would get home after youth group I would usually check my myspace and email before going to bed. Some nights I couldn't because me and Preacher didn't know the password to log onto the computer (dial up) so one of our parents had to log us on...and when I got in trouble I usually got grounded form the internet. Anyway, I remember one night after youth, we dropped Princess and Hubby off at their house and when I got home I checked my myspace.....I was on for a little while checking emails and what not. When I go back to my home page to realize I have a new Friend Request. I clicked on the link to the page of the friend and a bunch of USMC stuff popped up. That's when I realized Hubby had created a myspace. I added him and as I looked closer at his page I realized I was the first person he added. I didn't think anything special of it at the time because we were becoming very close friends..... and that's when the emails started! ;)
Stay Tuned!

*Note: Never realized that they put the big headstones in the MIDDLE of the Cemetery and the smallest ones on the outside. It made it VERY difficult to back up in a mini van! I'm pretty sure I ran over a few small headstones that were about 3 inches tall. OOPS!
